#SONIC UNLEASHED WALK THROUGH FULL#
By pressing B with the Gamecube controller as you are turning, Sonic begins a drift, maintaining his full-speed while “skidding” a bit only to launch-off at full speed again at the completion of the drift. This helps with both navigation and enemies. The Quick dodge is done by pressing the shoulder buttons while running forward. No longer as Sonic can tear ahead full-speed, slide in a drift for a turn (these turns are very obvious) then tear off again. With the introduction of the dodge and drift maneuvers for Sonic himself, the game can keep the high pace action we always liked, but had to give up sometimes in favor of more tricky navigation.
#SONIC UNLEASHED WALK THROUGH SERIES#
It helps add to the Sonic series allowing for the top speed while still giving some good challenges to navigation without having to go overboard like in some sections of pervious Sonic games (I’m talking about you Crazy Gadget!). With the Day stages, I can say I like the control scheme. A lot of this section of the game just focuses on climbing and fighting, with only some collecting, as Rings simply restore health. Sonic also needs to navigate through the areas, most of the time using the extendable arms to reach various lipped platforms. It would have been nice if there was a way to toggle it on/off, but it usually lasting long enough at the higher levels for my ends to be met. This form also has “Unleashed” mode, where Sonic looses rage for more speed and strength, a very useful thing against sometimes overwhelming hordes of enemies as well as the occasional boss. With time and completing stages, Were-Sonic levels up his attacks and attributes, becoming more durable, stronger and gaining new attacks. Using the two attack buttons, Sonic combos, taking out the hordes attacking him. This time Sonic is a brawler, a strange thought but not too out-of-place. This version of Sonic is way slow in terms of run-speed but is very strong and for whatever reason has stretching arms. In the Night stages, Sonic the Were-hog comes out in full-force. This does give you a bonus which usually seemed to help my bar and keep some good momentum going. This is a skill probably long-overdue in the Sonic Series. Many Boss fights are made a lot easier with the use of this skill. The dodge allows Sonic to just shift a ways in a direction without losing any momentum, making for hi-speed dodging.
Two additional features need mention as well, the quick dodge and the drift. This makes literally plowing through enemies VERY enjoyable, as well as many obstacles can be smashed with this new boost (it does have its origins in Sonic Rush for those familiar with the DS series). As you progress through the stage collecting rings, Sonics bars level up, allowing for him to move faster and boost more often. While initially it may seem a bit tedious dealing with the tutorials and that the control scheme is a bit whacked, I found later as I played and improved in skill, the new control set-up allowed me to do just what I wanted with Sonic: Run VERY fast. In the Day stages you play as Sonic the Hedgehog.
There are two styles of stages, Day and Night and both bring out something different in the hero: Probably the most tedious part of game play was having to go from town to town talking to people to get the tablets put together to enter the shrine and the action levels. While it’s only a little bonus, it’s definitely a nice little nod to the Sonic Fans out there playing the game. As you play through the game you will find various items as well, giving you access to the cut-scenes, music and artwork. First the player has no control over the camera, in an odd way, a welcome change after the hi-jinks of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. Here’s where the game REALLY differs from many of the console Sonic games in the past. Now accompanied by his friends, lending him support, and the little creature he calls “Chip”, Sonic needs to recharge the 7 Chaos Emeralds and face down Dark Gaia. Far from a great day for the “Way-Past-Cool” Hedgehog (I read the Sonic the Hedgehog comics, what can I say?). Robotnik’s plans he finds himself transformed into a Were-hog. The planet Mobius is shattered apart by a blast drawn from Super Sonic’s Powers and an ancient evil, Dark Gaia, arises after Sonic falls victim to one of Dr. It had a lot of control options thankfully, so choose the one that works best for you, sit down and hold on! I’ll admit, as I looked at the game and took in the basics of the controls, opting to play it with my Gamecube controller, opposed to the Wii Remote, for familiarity and response. Still, it offers a bit of diverse play while staying at least somewhat faithful to the Sonic-style of speedy game play. Sonic is the main star in this game with only cameos with some of the Sonic Crew. The difference, as the game claims is that of day and night.
